Cortney Buchholz is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides thoughtful, compassionate psychiatric care in a comfortable and nonjudgmental environment. She understands that reaching out for mental health support can feel vulnerable, and she works to help each person feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care.
Cortney takes a collaborative, whole-person approach to treatment. Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or list of symptoms, she considers the many factors that influence emotional well-being—including physical health, relationships, life experiences, stress, daily habits, personal values, and sources of meaning. She combines evidence-based psychiatric care and medication management with practical education, supportive conversation, and realistic strategies that clients can use in everyday life.
Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood concerns, life transitions, stress-related difficulties, and the complex ways mental and physical health affect one another. Cortney especially enjoys helping clients better understand what they are experiencing so they can make informed decisions about their treatment. Her style is warm, straightforward, and down to earth. She believes good psychiatric care should feel like a partnership rather than something being done to the client.
For clients who identify as Christian or consider faith an important part of their lives, Cortney is comfortable thoughtfully incorporating spirituality, faith, and Christian values into treatment when requested. She understands that mental health struggles can affect a person’s relationship with God, sense of identity, and connection to their faith community. She seeks to offer a space where these concerns can be discussed honestly and without shame.
At the same time, Cortney warmly welcomes clients of every religious background, as well as those who do not identify as spiritual or prefer not to include spirituality in their care. Faith is never assumed or imposed. Each client determines whether spirituality is included, and all treatment remains grounded in professional ethics, clinical evidence, mutual respect, and the client’s individual goals and values.
In addition to her work as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Cortney is pursuing graduate education in pastoral ministry and certification in lifestyle medicine. These areas deepen her appreciation for the connections among mind, body, relationships, purpose, and spiritual well-being. Her goal is not to offer quick fixes or unrealistic expectations, but to help clients find sustainable steps toward greater stability, understanding, and hope.
Outside of her professional life, Cortney values family, faith, meaningful conversations, and time in nature. She enjoys hiking, gardening, swimming, cooking, baking, crocheting, playing the violin, and occasionally taking a well-earned nap. These interests reflect something she also encourages in her work: healing is not only about reducing symptoms—it is also about making room for rest, connection, purpose, and the parts of life that help us feel most like ourselves.
